The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire has Tuesday confirmed twelve new cases of COVID-19 making it a total of 151cases in the country as earlier reported by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
The Minister who made the confirmation at the Presidential Taskforce joint Press briefing in Abuja said these new cases were border imported cases of a vehicle enroute Osun state, affirming the need to ensure strict border closure and surveillance. Giving a breakdown of all the 151cases, he said 70% are male while 30% are females stressing that both men and women of all ages can be infected.
Dr Osagie said the Ministry is using the window of opportunity of the lockdown in Ogun, Lagos and Abuja to accelerate activities to detect, isolate and treat cases as well as provide more isolation and testing centers across the counry. Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that from the 12 new cases, Nine were recorded in Osun State, two in Edo State and one in Ekiti State. The pandemic has been recorded in 11 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja totaling 151cases.
