fbpx Black Eyed Peas’ Taboo Opens Up On Secret Struggle With Cancer | The Beat 99.9 FM

The 41 year old was diagnosed with testicular cancer back in 2014 after severe pain in his back and abdomen led him to a hospital emergency department. He underwent an emergency operation the next day to remove the main part of the cancer but still had to endure a 12-week course of chemotherapy treatment before his remission.


He also revealed how his family and bandmates supported him during his trying times, he said "Will.i.am instantly reached out to a great doctor who helped me figure out a treatment plan..I was racing against the clock”.


Taboo, whose real name is Jaime Gomez has been cancer free for 2 years now and has joined the American Cancer Society for a new campaign called “The Fight” to help others battling the disease. The rappers has released a new single also titled “The Fight” with 70% of  whatever profit it makes going to the health charity.


In an interview with People magazine he said "There are millions going through things like this, and I want to remind them that we don't curl up into a ball when we have a trial or tribulation.
"We get up and fight."
