The 2015 BET Awards was as always a night to remember with Kendrick Lamar opening with a powerful performance of "Alright. The ceremony was hosted by Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, who took part in an Empire sketch that was interrupted by Terrence Howard. While the night may have belonged to Janet Jackson, Sunday night's BET Awards proved memorable for so many reasons. British singer Sam Smith continued his hot streak at music awards shows, picking up the night's first prize for best new artist beating out the likes of Fetty Wap and Bobby Shmurda.

 

 

Nicki Minaj brought her mom on stage as she picked up the award for best female hip-hop artist. The Weeknd picked up the Centric award for "Earned It" from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack.  Notable performances include Sean "Diddy" Combs' epic Bad Boy reunion with Lil Kim, Faith Evans, 112 and Mase not to mention his pretty nasty on-stage tumble to Rihanna duct taping Floyd Mayweather's mouth shut and show-stopping performances from Big Sean, The Weeknd and Alicia Keys, the hip-hop industry didn't fail to turn up from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Famous presenters Laverne Cox, Zendaya, Michael B. Jordan, Kelly Rowland and more were also on-hand to honor some of the biggest names in music. Janet Jackson, the recipient of the Ultimate Icon: Music Dance Visual Award, also performed.
