THE BEAT 99.9FM is a full-service station with local and international entertainment news, topical news, sports, weather and traffic information all rolled into hot and exciting breakfast, afternoon and evening drive time show

Targeting men and women 15-40, THE BEAT 99.9FM plans on being the dominant radio station in Lagos.

Our mission when we started was to be the most listened-to radio station by our stated demographic of 15-40 year old men and women and also be the []HEART BEAT[] of Lagos by capturing through our sound the positive vibrancy that Lagos is known for.

Early indicators show that we are certainly on the way to achieving our objectives and we hope that with this launch we will be firmly established as the premier radio station in the country.

Since we commenced operations on the 1st of May, our listenership has grown steadily and we have introduced many new cutting edge innovations to the radio industry, in fact we like to think that we have changed the landscape of electronic media in Nigeria.

MANAGEMENT TEAM PROFILE

1. CHRISTOPHER C. UBOSI, MANAGING DIRECTOR

Chris has over 15 years experience in setting up and managing new ventures in media, broadcasting and telecommunications. He has a B.Sc Degree from University of Ife and an M.Sc from University of Lagos.

Chris was appointed into the []Core Working Group on the National Mass Communication Policy Review[] in 2004, with the mandate to review the policy of 1987 and make recommendations for its improvement.

He served creditably under the Electronic Media & ICT Sub-Committee, and is therefore, very conversant with the Federal Government and other stakeholders positions on issues affecting the media.

Chris Ubosi designed, established and presently run MEGALECTRICS LIMITED(Operators of The Beat 99.9FM and Classic FM 97.3), two wholly licensed indigenous radio stations, both co-located at 26, Keffi Street, Ikoyi, Lagos.

He has also been consulting severally for various new private radio stations in West Africa, including the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, in their on going nationwide 32 FM Radio project.


2. DEJI AWOKOYA, GENERAL MANAGER

Deji started out his professional career at SONY EUROPE as a Market Analyst responsible, for the UK market right after completing his master[]s programme at Cranfield School of Management.

Deji moved into the contracting sphere, where he had various senior analyst roles with various blue chip companies such as NPD and WALT DISNEY, just to name.

He was head hunted by DunnHumby, which is an international marketing Consultancy that handles all the Strategic marketing and corporate planning for TESCO worldwide to mange TESCO[]s customer loyalty scheme in the UK. He was with DunnHumby for a couple of years and made a mark by being part of various teams, which managed to increase the revenue for this major client to a record GBP400million in the process introducing new engagements for the brand such as Tesco Direct.

He moved to Nigeria in 2007, to join Megalectrics Limited, as the General Manager for CLASSIC FM 97.3 and has been showing his prowess by getting the station and the brand in the consciousness of the listening public in record time. CLASSIC FM 97.3 is arguably the fastest growing radio station in Lagos with turnover up to N70million in less than a year, with a potential listenership of over 10 million.

3. Amira Obi-Okoye (Mrs.), Director, Sales & Marketing

Amira is a highly experienced Business Administrator and Manager of people with some Landmark achievements associated to her, arising from her Visionary capacity in various spheres of life including the Media, Banking and Manufacturing.

She was a pioneer staff of COOL FM 96.9, Lagos, where she worked as the marketing manager for 7 years and was responsible for the many successes of the Lagos based radio station. She led a marketing team that was instrumental in setting new standards which helped COOL FM to become and maintain the number 1 position for several years. She introduced innovative processes and practices in the art of radio marketing that have evolved and are now being adopted by others in the industry.

Amira has also worked in different capacities in various international organizations including, Continental Merchant, formerly Chase Manhattan, where she worked for over 8 years. Her contribution in the public affairs department resulted in numerous landmark image enhancing laurels for the Bank. She was also part of the team that carried out financial transactions in international brokerage resulting in increased fee based income for the bank.

She has also worked in LAFARGE, S.A as the Head of Communications, where she successfully identified and managed the organisation[]s key internal and external stakeholders relationships. She was also in a short period of time, able to enhance the profile and positioning of the company as a major player in the manufacturing and marketing of Cement in Nigeria.

In addition, CLASSIC FM 97.3, under her administrative and marketing leadership is the foremost radio station to achieve many unprecedented feats including gaining a revenue of up to N70 million in less than a year of operations, with a potential listenership of over 10 million.

Amira holds a B.Sc Degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc from the same University. She is currently an undergraduate of Law of the University of London, U.K.


4. Olisa Adibua, Program Director for The Beat FM

One of the most respected and sought after radio and television presenter and producer, Olisa Adibua is not only one of the biggest personalities but has also been at the cutting of Nigerian electronic media and entertainment since 1988 with more than 21 years experience in television, radio, film, and live events.

His television career kicked off at the Nigeria Television Authority as a presenter, producer and director on popular magazine/light entertainment programmes such as []Tops of the pops[] and []Super sounds[].

Olisa then went on to present, produce and direct four different weekly programmes like clapperboard Rap show and soul with sprite for Nigerians first independent private Television station, Clapperboard Television.

Olisa has had a long and fruitful association with corporate Nigeria both as a spokesperson and on various platforms such as television, radio and live events.

Olisa has hosted the MTN Nigeria[]s Y[]ello Television and Radio shows made numerous appearances as a host or as part of media campaigns for events including Project Fame Africa, Sean Paul tour, Wyclef Jean tour, Star Mega Jam, Face of Africa, The St.Moritz Style Awards, Thisday Fashion Show and music event, Launch of Mtv base Africa, Nigerian Television Authority[]s Charity Telethon in aid of Ikeja Cantonment bomb victims, groundbreaking shows like Apprentice Africa, Big brother Nigeria and worked with other blue chip clients like Mercedes Benz, Nokia, British Airways, Moet& Chandon, Oceanic Bank, Audi, British American Tobacco, Nigeria Breweries, Hennessy, United Bank For Africa, Chicken Republic, Virgin Atlantic, Johnnie Walker, Motorola, Guinness, Starcomms, Virgin Nigeria, Gillette Razors, Coca Cola and numerous others.

From 1998 to 2008, Olisa hosted the number one afternoon drive time radio show on Cool fm till he moved in 2009 to launch the current No. 1 radio station in Nigeria as the morning drive-time host and programme director on THE BEAT 99.9 FM. As a director of Storm 360, Olisa is a part of a formidable team that is steering a company that is a leader in the Nigeria Media and entertainment industry. Olisa Adibua[]s good standing within the industry vast experience and diverse talents have made him a brand name recognized not only in Nigeria but across the African continent and amongst Nigerians in the Diaspora.
